More ghost sightings…

More than 2,000 Resolution Research panelists, reporting through a recent survey conducted by ResolutionPanel.com, provided these personal reports of interactions when asked if they had ever seen a ghost or witnessed a paranormal activity. This is a small sampling of responses.

• I was around 4yrs. old. My great uncle had passed away the day before. I was riding my tricycle around the kitchen in my grandmother’s house. I saw my uncle standing in the doorway and as usual, I told him good morning. My grandmother had a very strange look on her face.
• My grandfather died when I was 7 (I am now 32) and I didn’t go to the funeral. In 1998 I saw him in my house and was able to describe exactly what we was buried in. Then, in 2001 I would see my neighbor’s deceased wife in my house frequently and she would tell me things she’d tell him in his dreams. Then in 2005 my grandma died, and one again I didn’t go the funeral. I ended up seeing her in my house – a different one than I lived in before.
• As a child, I saw 3 individual entities. The man was very thin and tall, would stand by the end of my bed and peer at me…the other was a lady that sat in a rocking chair and knitted and the last one was of a younger male, just came and went, no particular pattern. As an adult I was dreaming of a child wanting help from beyond, I reached out my hand and she reached towards me and as I woke, there she was at the side of the bed with arm out stretched toward me.
• I was at a party at my friend’s house and decided to stay the night. After everyone left there was something walking upstairs and when my friend went to look to see if someone else had stayed she found nothing. Several minutes later her small dog started barking at the steps to the upstairs and all of a sudden a blast of cold air came down the steps and the front door opened by its self – it was went out and shut the door behind it and no we weren’t drunk.
• When I was little I was crawling into my aunt’s bedroom at my grandpa’s house. When I got to the room I saw my grandpa’s friend, who was dying, laying on the bed with my aunt sitting in a chair next to him holding a wash cloth on his forehead. She turned and looked at me, got up and walked toward me. Before she could pick me up, someone from behind picked me up and I watched her close the door. Apparently I was only a few months old when she died so this might not have happened.
• When I gave birth to my first child, I had to have an emergency c-section due to complications. After all was done, just my daughter and I were alone in the room, I looked over to glimpse my deceased maternal grandparents. My grandma was sitting with my grandpa behind her and both were smiling and looking at my beautiful newborn.
• I was driving from Lincoln, NE to Omaha, NE on I-80W around 10pm on a weeknight. I was about halfway back to Omaha, and it was a very clear night. I saw a green light come out of the sky and shoot down to the ground at a 45 degree angle. My friend was driving 3 cars ahead of my on the same interstate and I called her and she saw the exact same thing. Airplane? I think not. Helicopter? I think not. Government activity? Possibility. UFO? Most likely.
• It occurred in my 150 -year-old house. On Christmas Eve my son was asleep in a room down the hall from our family room. The door to the family room was closed. Suddenly it opened and within 20 seconds my son fell out of his crib. It was as if the ghost was trying to warn us of my son’s attempting to get out of his crib for the first time.
• My 78-year-old, extremely obese, next door neighbor was in a car accident and broke her forearm. The doctor put a cast on her arm, but after 8 weeks, in wasn’t healing. They then told her she would have to have surgery to have a piece of bone taken off of her hip and put it in her arm. She died during surgery. Two days after she was buried, about dusk, I was washing dishes and she appeared in my kitchen window, no cast, waving and saying ‘Hi Diane’. I screamed and ran and regret running now!
• My great aunt’s rocking chair rocked every day for a month after she passed away.
• An ex-girlfriend and I consistently saw a ‘little girl’ in her house. It was an old house in Denver, CO and we would see her peaking out from behind doors or at the top of the stairs looking down. She never said anything or acted menacing at all and after awhile it stopped being so creepy and just became part of her house like the decor.
• At my mother’s house one Halloween many years ago I was visiting my mother at the home that was in her family for over a hundred years. We were in her kitchen drinking coffee after the trick-or- treaters all left. .All of a sudden two cupboard doors flew open and items fell lout on the floor like something was pulling them out. My mother said to me, “Oh My God I forgot to put something on Dad’s grave.”  She was talking about her dad’s grave. He died at age 78 in 1948. His birthday was October 31st.
• The apartment I lived in when I was younger was very old and odd, unexplained things happened all the time. Lights would go out, nursery chimes would go off with no one in the room, door knobs would turn, etc. One time while I was in bed the foot end of my bed was lifted and dropped. There was definitely an unexplained force within that old apartment.
• We had many strange things at our old house: TVs coming on by themselves, feeling someone else in the room when no one was there. I also went out the door one morning to take the kids to school, realized I forgot something and went to the front door and I heard someone in the house talking. I went inside and no radio or TV was on. I took pictures of my boys room after a remodel and there are faces in picture. Six of them.
• When my grandmother’s brother died, we were in a different state. At the exact time of his death, we went to the door and no one was there. Immediately there was a knock at the back door, and no one was there.
• It happened at the house I use to live in, there would be a moment where all of a sudden any part of the house would be freezing cold and then it would be normal again. I always heard someone walking upstairs in the living room and always felt someone was trying to open the door from kitchen to back yard…every night.
• It was after my grandfather passed and I was at work. It was just a few days after his funeral so I was still very upset. All of a sudden, I heard his voice say ‘It’s ok baby, Papow loves ya’…Then I turned around and saw his image.
• When I was driving alone one night a voice called my name very loudly and I looked up and saw I was in the wrong lane headed toward a semi truck. I felt a hand pull the wheel towards the right and I looked over at the passenger side and saw a man sitting there with his hand on the wheel. I then pulled to the shoulder and saw that no one was sitting there anymore.
• When I was about 28-years-old. I saw a little girl that appeared every night for about two weeks in my mirror. She had long braids. I thought I was seeing things until my young daughter, who was about 6 at that time, saw the same little girl on the bathroom wall tiles. I had never told her about the little girl but she described the same girl I was seeing.
• I was asleep and partially woke up to the sense that my grandfather was standing at the end of my bed. When I finally got the courage to open my eyes, he was not there, but I noted that the clock read 2:30am. The next morning, when I arrived at my parent’s home, my father informed me that my grandfather had passed away. I asked what time he passed and my father said it was around 2:30a. I have no doubt that my grandfather’s spirit was at the foot of my bed that night.
• When I was about 28 years old. I saw a little girl that appeared every night for about two weeks in my mirror. She had long braids. I thought I was seeing things until my young daughter, who was about 6 at that time, saw the same little girl on the bathroom wall tiles. I had never told her about the little girl but she described the same girl I was seeing.
• I worked in a old bed and breakfast while in high school. On a day when the inn was closed, front and back doors were locked and I was the only one in the home cleaning, I heard doors opening and closing on their own upstairs. I also heard distinct footsteps walking down the back stairs into the kitchen where I was working, but I had a clear view of the stairs and there was no one there.
• One night at one of the places my daughter and I clean we heard a man’s voice say, “Hello.” There was nobody there but us! We decided to bring a voice recorder when we worked the next night and ask some questions and we were shocked when we listened to the tape at home later that evening. There were 4 or 5 different voices on the tape and they answered all the questions we asked. We taped for about 5 months, a total of over 20 tapes, and picked up voices on all of them.
• When my brother was killed in a car crash I kept receiving calls from his cell phone which had been disconnected a week after the crash. My caller ID would show his number but no one was there. My aunt died and right before my mother called to tell me she had died, I saw my aunt’s face in the bathroom mirror telling me good-bye.
• It might sound crazy, but I wasn’t imaging this. My beloved cat died and for several months I could feel her rubbing up against my legs when I was standing at the kitchen sink – ,just as she did when she was alive. My family moved into a house when I was about ten years old. An old lady lived in the house before us and she had died of a heart attack. Her name was Dorothy. Anyway, we had some weird things happen while living there. Sometimes, out of nowhere, the blinds would roll all the way up really fast. The radio would sometimes come on without anyone touching it. My bed room door would sometimes open by itself and close by itself. I never felt scared or threatened but it was a little odd.
• I saw the ghost of my grandmother. I was talking to my mom and I look over to the mirror and I see my grandmother standing behind me smiling. She had died a year ago and there she was as clear as day smiling at me in some kind of ultra bright light. I don’t know if I believe in ghost and stuff but I can’t really explain that or what to make of it.
• My husband had MS. He fell in the yard and I couldn’t get him up. An old man in a suit suddenly was there and he asked me if I needed help. I asked him to help me get my husband to a shady area so he could recover. He got on one side and I got on the other and we drug him to shade. I turned to thank him and no one was there. This happened in about 1985.
• We lived in an old house when I was growing up. We were always seeing and hearing things we couldn’t explain. Radios would come on by themselves. We would see doorknobs turn and doors open when no one was there. We would hear people talking upstairs when no one else was home. After our dog died, we would still hear her running across the tile floor. Glimpsing people who weren’t there out of the corner of our eye. All kinds of stuff like that.
• I was sitting in my living room and heard a not from the piano. When I looked at the keys one was down!! I was in my closet about 12 years ago and walked right into a whiff of my mom’s favorite perfume. Now, my Mom had been dead for 4 years already and I had even moved to another state. The scent was strong and very noticeable so no doubt that she was in that closet with me.
• When I would be taking a shower, all of a sudden, my stereo’s volume would go up like super loud, then when I would say ‘quit it’, it would go back to low again and this happened lots of times, even when I was in my bedroom. Also sometimes I would hear knocking on my bedroom door and when I would check there was no one there and no one in my house either. I would also hear steps through the hallway and a weird baby mix with cat crying by my window.
• After my brother Alton died in September 1979, I used to see him in the doorway to his bedroom upstairs as I would walk upstairs to my own bedroom.
• The weather that day was too warm and balmy being it was only the end of the winter season in N.Y.C.. I decided to take a walk down 5th avenue and as I past this antique shop, which was closed at the time, I suddenly felt an arctic cold wind that made me stop in my tracks. I felt an urge to call home. And I did. My father said to get to the hospital because my mother was deathly ill and wasn’t going to make it to tomorrow. As I hung up the phone, the cold wind stopped and it was warm again.
• We were cleaning out my parents’ house because it had been sold and out the corner of my eye I saw my mother walking down the hallway. That would be impossible since she had passed away the year before in the bedroom I saw her coming out of.
• At my old apartment, I would wake in the middle of the night to have someone (a shadow of a man) standing in my room. This happened a couple of times before I moved out. Each time it would happen, he would be closer to my bed. I would try to make a sound, but was too scared. Then, he would just go away. We had been talking about my deceased grandfather and a windup ceramic figurine (his favorite, left to me) that was high up on a shelf began to play. It had not been wound in years.
